We have had a damp day across New England with spotty showers, drizzle and warm temperatures. Trick-or-treating will be soggy, but no storms or intense downpours.
We will also have temperatures around 70 with the south wind gradually picking up to 35 mph. After kids fill up on candy, the wind continues to intensify and heavy rain approaches western New England.
The cold front will move through quickly overnight, and by sunrise Friday we are already drying off. The highest wind gusts will be between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. from the south with gusts between 50 and 60 mph. This means there will be pockets of damage and outages on Halloween night and the with the howling wind, heavy rain and rumbles of thunder, it will be a loud night.
A west wind will be gusty Friday afternoon and this will usher in drier air and cooler temperatures. Highs Friday will be just after midnight in the low 70s, then continue to fall to the 50s by afternoon.
The rain lingers across eastern Maine for late Friday morning and there could be a wintry mix across the higher elevations with the northwestern airflow. Highs will be in the low 50s both Saturday and Sunday but mostly sunny both days.
Another cold front moves through Saturday night and this will trigger some snow showers across the mountains. While an inverted trough will bring some clouds and showers across southeastern Massachusetts for Sunday morning there will be drying by the afternoon for all of southern New England.

Next week we will have highs in the 50s and will start off dry. Mid-week there is a chance for a system to bring us scattered rain.
Then next weekend we really cool down to highs only in the 40s and possibly our first wintry mix chance for Boston this season. Stay tuned!
