Weather Special: Boating Safety

Matt Noyes talked with Rick Bowen of the U.S. Coast Guard about how weather affects boating in the summertime

NECN meteorologist Matt Noyes talked with Rick Bowen of the U.S. Coast Guard about how weather affects boating in the summertime.

Bowen suggests to file a float plan and to have a cell phone or marine radio on board. He also suggests having a drain plug on the boat and storing life jackets on board.

In addition, the Coast Guard says to take safety classes, get a free vessel check, and not to operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
