A woman in her 30s was found dead in a Natick, Massachusetts home Tuesday afternoon from apparent trauma, according to authorities.
Natick police and fire officials found the woman's body after getting a 911 call just before 4 p.m. Tuesday on the fourth floor of the Avalon apartment complex on Chrysler Road.
"Here at Avalon, that's shocking," said resident Wanda Robertson-Chambers.
Robertson-Chambers had just arrived home when she saw police at her neighbor's apartment.
"There were four policemen there and about four undercover policemen there," she recalled.
The preliminary investigation suggests that this is not a random event. Authorities said there is no threat to the public at this time.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Natick Chief of Police James Hicks confirmed an ongoing investigation into the woman's death Wednesday. Massachusetts State Police and their Crime Scene Services Unit are helping investigate.
"The sudden loss of someone is awful anytime," Ryan said. "It's particularly bad given the year that we've all had and heading into the holidays, so really even more traumatic for the family."
Longtime residents say it is a safe building.
"I've been here eight years," said resident Carolyn Scalise. "This is the first time anything like this has happened. I'm so sorry to hear it, it's awful."
Ryan says no one is in custody at this time.
Investigators are waiting for results of an autopsy.

Building management at Natick Avalon declined to comment.
"Unsettling to say the least," said Clara O'Neill, whose mother lives in the building.
