Boston is one of the worst binge-drinking cities in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Surprisingly, though, several other New England cities and towns made the list. Boston was 29th, with 20.5 percent of those surveyed saying they binge drink. Binge drinking is defined as consuming at least four drinks for women or at least five drinks for men on one occasion.

The Burlington, Vermont, area was 7th on the list, with 23.5 percent of people saying they binge drink. Laconia, New Hampshire, was 28th. Portland, Maine, and Torrington, Connecticut, were tied for 34th at 19.9 percent.
Also making the Top 40 were Worcester, Massachusetts, at 37th, Bridgeport, Connecticut, at 38th and Springfield, Massachusetts, at 39th.
