While searching, authorities said a Dodge Hellcat was stolen from Old Saybrook early Monday morning and engaged police in a pursuit.
Officers worked with the vehicle manufacturer and Connecticut State Police to find the vehicle.
The Dodge Hellcat is among the most stolen vehicles in the U.S. according to a recent study. Researchers point to the vehicle’s powerful engine as making it a popular target.
According to police, the vehicle was remotely slowed down and disabled on Interstate 95 in Stratford. Three people fled from the vehicle on foot and Connecticut State Police apprehended all of them.
The technology used to halt the vehicle is a Dodge safety feature known as Uconnect….which is a option on select Dodge vehicles. The feature lets law enforcement help locate stolen vehicles using GPS.
All four people who were arrested are at the Old Saybrook Police Department.
Police do not believe there are any more suspects at large.
There are no security concerns at Goodwin Elementary School.
The incidents remain under investigation. Officers have not said if they are related.
