A 16-year-old boy was airlifted to a Boston hospital after being shot in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

The shooting took place on Howard Street late Thursday afternoon. Police said the teen was treated at the scene before being airlifted.

Witnesses say it all started with a fight between teenagers when shots were fired. Police blocked the street for several hours while investigators gathered evidence and interviewed several teens in the area.

A 16-year-old Lawrence native was also arrested and charged with assault to murder, discharging a firearm 500 feet of a dwelling, and possessision of a firearm without an FID card.

All three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
