2 Arrested Following Discovery of 16 Stolen Firearms

An investigation in two New England states has led to the arrest of two individuals and the discovery of 16 stolen firearms, including several semi-automatic rifles and a large amount of ammunition from a home in Pepperell, Massachusetts.

Wayne Shay, 36, of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Sheri Napier, 36, of Dracut, Massachusetts, were taken into custody Thursday, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.

Authorities said Massachusetts State Police began searching for Shay and Napier Thursday morning in connection with the recent theft of firearms in Nashua, New Hampshire.

When a Nissan Altima used by the suspects was eventually located outside of a Dracut home, a trooper set up surveillance. Authorities said a short time later, other troopers responded and both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The district attorney said a subsequent investigation by police in Nashua led authorities to a home in Pepperell where 16 stolen firearms, 17 high-capacity magazines, a 100-round drum magazine, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Shay and Napier are being held by Massachusetts State Police pending their arraignment in Ayer District Court as fugitives from justice on the New Hampshire warrants. Additional charges are expected out of Massachusetts.

It's unclear if either Shay or Napier have attorneys.
