Police: Woman Arrested After Running From Crash That Killed 2

A Massachusetts woman was arrested Thursday after police say she ran away from the scene of a crash that killed two people in Easton.

Police said 33-year-old Sheri Vazauez of Easton was speeding on Route 138 when she crashed into another vehicle that was turning onto Purchase Street around 6:15 p.m.

A 79-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman in the second vehicle both died from their injuries, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Police said Vazquez got out of her Dodge Journey and ran away. A short time later, she was arrested in West Bridgewater.

Vazquez was taken to an area hospital for a well-being check. She is expected to be arraigned Friday in Taunton District Court.

Initial charges against Vazquez include leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury and negligent operation, but authorities say she could face more charges.
