25-Year-Old Man Dies After Overdose on Tainted Heroin in Groton: Police

A 25-year-old man is dead after an apparent overdose on fentanyl- laced heroin in Groton on Tuesday night and police, as well as a regional task force, are investigating his death.

Police, paramedics and firefighters found the man just after 7:30 p.m. when they responded to the corner of Route 12 and Crystal Lake Road to investigate a report of an unresponsive man in a motor vehicle. It appeared he had overdosed on opioids, according to police.

Emergency responders provided medical care, including using Narcan. The man was then transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police have not released the man’s name because they are notifying his family.

Officers and detectives from the Groton Town Police Department and Regional Community Enhancement Task Force are investigating.
