3 Dead Following Rollover Crash in New London, New Hampshire

All three victims were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over on Interstate 89

Three people are dead following a rollover crash on Interstate 89 in New London, New Hampshire State Police say.

The crash in the northbound lane occurred just before noon Sunday near Exit 12.

The vehicle rolled several times before hitting a construction sign and coming to a stop in the median of the highway, police say. All three victims were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over.

Two of the victims were pronounced dead on scene, and a third victim was pronounced dead at New London Hospital.

The names of the victims have not been released.

A preliminary investigation shows the vehicle, which has Massachusetts plates, was traveling northbound in the left lane of travel when another vehicle may have merged into the left lane in front of them.

The vehicle involved in the crash subsequently swerved and lost control, authorities said.

Police say all parties involved in the crash remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and is handling the investigation. They were assisted on scene by state troopers, the New London police and fire departments, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

A portion of I-89 was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation. Traffic was diverted off Exit 12 and then back onto the Interstate during that time.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time, according to officials, but the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.

Anyone who has information related to this crash or who witnessed the collision is encouraged to contact Trooper Christopher Pieniazak at 603-227-0031.
