4-Year-Old Child Involved in Groton Crash Dies

Three people, including a child, were seriously injured in a fatal two-car crash in Groton Monday evening, according to Groton police.

Police said the accident happened on the Gold Star Highway near the intersections of Packer and Welles Roads around 5:19 p.m.

A 4-year-old child was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital then flown via LifeStar to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, police said the 4-year-old girl died. 

Two other people were transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The injured were all traveling in the same vehicle.

The occupants of the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries on scene.

The highway was closed in both directions but has since reopened.

The Groton Town Police Department’s crash reconstruction team is investigating, with assistance from Ledyard police.
