500 Parking Garage Spaces at MBTA Alewife Station Closed Amid Garage Repairs

Pieces of concrete fell on a customer's car on Wednesday

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority officials announced that 500 parking garage spots in the Alewife station parking garage will be closed Thursday as crews make some repairs.

On Wednesday, pieces of concrete fell on a customer’s vehicle on the second floor of the parking garage.

No injuries were reported, but the incident prompted engineers to inspect the garage.

Although the parking garage was deemed safe to use, crews decided that spot repairs needed to be done.

Crews will work on the concrete Thursday during the closure of the garage's second floor. Two thousand other parking spots will still be available.

Inspectors will also conduct assesments on the other floors of the parking garage, with crews making any necessary repairs.
