58-Hour, 22-Marvel Movie Marathon Comes to a Close with ‘Avengers: Endgame' Premiere

A 58-hour Marvel movie marathon where fans exhibited superhero endurance while watching 22 movies, ended Thursday evening in Revere, Massachusetts, with the premiere of "Avengers: Endgame."

The Showcase Cinema de Lux in Revere hasn't closed since Tuesday and was outfitted with portable showers, phone charging stations, food and even yoga breaks for these Marvel movie fans.

"I actually shaved my beard for it, as you can see. It's growing back a little, but I had a big, thick beard that I shaved," Bradley Carreiro said. "I grew the long hair like Chris Evans does in the new Avengers movie, so I got to make it as realistic as possible."

Attendees got a bonus, getting to watch the new Avengers movie an hour earlier than everyone else.

"It's more of a community thing. You get to see a bunch of people that are into the same things as you are and they feel just as enthusiastically as about it as you do," Fatima Lhaloui said. "Like, they're willing to spend three days in a movie theater non-stop just to watch the 'Endgame.'"

On Tuesday, fans prepared for the impact of 58 straight hours of movie watching.

"I'm a veteran, so I've been up for 24, 36, 48 hours, but after that, you start hallucinating. So am I going to be hallucinating what's on screen?" asked Millbury resident Bruce Mendelsohn.

Despite the risks, it is a task Mendelsohn and the most diehard Marvel fans embraced.

"The vibe in there is kind of funny, because if you leave, you're going to be shamed," said Mendelsohn. "So you kind of have to sneak out."
