The Texas nerve center for the United States space program that helped bring Americans to the moon is in desperate need of a restoration.
Plans are underway for a multi-million dollar renovation project that would restore the Mission Control room, including rejuvenating flight control consoles and reactivating wall displays with projections showing what Apollo-era engineers would see during missions.
An online crowd-funding campaign was launched help pay for the project, which NASA hopes to be completed ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.
