Deerfield, NH, Police Find Stolen Life-Size Elf ‘Zippy'

The mannequin had last been seen in a beach chair with his sunglasses, an umbrella and a drink "taking in the sun"

A beloved life-size elf on a shelf known as "Zippy" that went missing in a New Hampshire town on Monday has been found.

The Deerfield Rescue squad posted pictures on their Facebook page Wednesday of an officer with the mannequin in a red onesie, a cap and mittens.

"It is with great happiness that we can announce that Zippy has been returned. He is a little wet, but safe," read part of the Facebook post.

No other information was immediately available on where Zippy had been over the last couple of days.

On Tuesday, Deerfield Rescue Squad EMS captain Cindy McHugh said Zippy was last seen at the gate by Deerfield's Veasey Park in a beach chair with his sunglasses, an umbrella and a drink "taking in the sun."

The Rescue Squad has had Zippy for three years. The elf, who shows up after the town parade the Sunday after Thanksgiving, is a staple around the community for children who find him in various places to take photos.
