Frightening dash cam footage showed the moment a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was struck by a hydroplaning car on Interstate 95 in Boynton Beach on Monday.

FHP officials said the trooper had responded to a separate 3-car crash in the southbound lanes of I-95 near Woolbright Road just before 6 p.m. and was walking in the inside shoulder when he was struck by the Toyota Prius.

The footage showed the out-of-control car sliding toward the trooper, who managed to grab the wall and pull himself up and almost completely out of the path of the car.

Despite his efforts, the trooper was struck and suffered a leg injury, officials said. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

"At the last second he was able to see the vehicle coming towards him, he jumped and jumped for his life, he hung on the wall and the vehicle struck the wall and in the process our trooper was hit in his lower legs, his ankle," FHP Lt. Alvaro Feola said.

Officials later identified the trooper as 30-year-old Jeremy Medastin.

The driver of the Prius, 18-year-old Ian James Carr, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
