Four people were killed and at least four others were injured in a Halloween night shooting at a house party in Orinda, according to authorities.

The shooting happened around 10:50 p.m. Thursday at a home located along the 100 block of Lucille Way, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said.

Witnesses at the scene told NBC Bay Area that the shooting happened during a Halloween party at an Airbnb rental.

Four people were killed and at least four others were injured in a Halloween night shooting at a house party in Orinda, according to police.

A source told NBC Bay Area that the people who rented the home through Airbnb lied to the company and the owner of the house, saying they weren't going to host a party. The renters said they wanted to get out of the Kincade Fire zone in Sonoma County because they had a family member who suffers from asthma. But a party unfolded and more than 100 people showed up, according to the sheriff's office.

Airbnb issued the following statement Friday: "We are horrified by this tragedy and are in close communication with Chief David Cook of Orinda Police to offer our support with his investigation into who committed this senseless violence. Additionally, we have taken action to ban the booking guest from our platform. Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims of this abhorrent act as well as the neighbors of the home."

Police were already en route to the scene following a noise complaint when the shooting happened. They did not immediately provide information about what prompted the violence at the home located about a half-mile from downtown Orinda. The four-bedroom home with high vaulted ceilings and woodsy views last sold for $1.2 million in 2017.

Four people were killed and at least four others were injured in a Halloween night shooting at a house party in Orinda, California, according to police. Bob Redell and Thom Jensen report.

Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, according to the sheriff's office. Another died at a hospital.

The victims are identified as 22-year-old Tiyon Farley of Antioch, 24-year-old Omar Taylor of Pittsburg, 23-year-old Ramon Hill Jr. of San Francisco/Oakland and 29-year-old Javin County of Sausalito/Richmond, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.

Two firearms were found at the scene during the investigation and will be analyzed to determine if they were used in the shooting or in any other crimes.

Orinda Police Chief David Cook said at least four other people suffered injuries in the shooting. The sheriff's office said the exact number of injured victims was not known because some victims transported themselves to the hospital.

Cook in a Friday media briefing said the gunman remains at large.

"We have no reason to believe that the (suspects) are in the area or are from Orinda," Cook said.

Witnesses said that attendees at the party included students from Laney College in Oakland.

The Oakland Police Department said it has been asked if there is a link between the shooting and the city of Oakland. Police responded by issuing the following statement: "The Oakland Police Department has reached out to the Orinda Police Department and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office to offer support and or assistance in regards to this shooting. As their investigation continues, our Department will be ready and available to assist if needed and or if the investigation should lead to Oakland."
