A former Fox Business Network guest analyst is accusing the network of taking her off the air after she alleged she was raped by one of its hosts, NBC News reported.
Scottie Nell Hughes sued two weeks after Fox cleared Charles Payne of wrongdoing, following an internal investigation. She says in the lawsuit filed Monday in New York that Payne raped her in a hotel room four years ago and that offers to appear on air fell off after she rebuffed continous advances from him.
Payne's lawyer said in a statement that Hughes' claims are "outrageous," adding that Payne "vehemently denies any wrongdoing and will defend himself vigorously against this baseless complaint." Fox News released a statement calling the lawsuit a shameful "publicity stunt" from her attorneys that has "absolutely no merit."
It's the latest in a slew of allegations made against men at Fox News, which has parted ways with several executives accused of sexual harassment.
