Well, surprise, surprise.
There are always a few when the Golden Globes nominations are announced and this year was no exception.
Tom Hanks was left high and dry as his portrayal of Chesley Sullenberger in “Sully” wasn’t deemed worthy of a nomination.
Practically every other lead actor in the FX hit “The People Vs. O.J." secured nominations, including Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden, and John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, but there was no love for Cuba Gooding Jr., who played the titular character.

In the film category, Taraji P. Henson’s dramatic turn as a NASA mathematician instrumental to the space race was passed over while co-star Octavia Spencer received a supporting actress nomination for the film.
The NBC hit “This is Us" nabbed a handful of acting nominations, including for actresses Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz. But everyone’s favorite mustachioed-dad on the show, Milo Ventimiglia, went un-nominated.

Lena Headey nabbed a nomination as the villainous Cersei Lannister on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” but the resurrected Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, was apparently better off dead as his performance went unrecognized.
And “Fences,” the Tony-winning Broadway play turned film starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, was recognized in the acting categories, but was shut out in best picture and best director race.
The Jan. 8 Golden Globes will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon and broadcast by NBC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
