Anti-Semitic Fliers Found in Newton, Mass.

Newton police, who are working with the Anti-Defamation League, say this is the first anti-Semetic incident in about a decade

Police in Newton, Massachusetts say they are investigating after several anti-Semitic fliers were discovered in book-swap bins.

The fliers included racist caricatures and connected Jews to pedophilia, according to police, and were found in four different bins throughout the area.

Officials say the fliers were linked to the Daily Stormer Book Club, a group affiliated with The Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi website.

"It's a pretty vile image and description of the most classic anti-Semitic stereotypes, demonizing Jews and the Jewish religion," said Robert Trestan, director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in New England.

The placement of the fliers appears to be random, according to police.

"Here in Newton, this is not who we are," said Newton resident David Kaplan. "This is not what we are, and it's not what the community knows that we are."

Newton police said they're working with the ADL, adding that this is the first such incident in the city in about a decade.

The investigation is ongoing.
