Aunt of Kankakee Inmate Accused of Aiding His Escape

Kamron Taylor escaped from a Kankakee jail facility earlier this week and was captured in Chicago late Friday night

Authorities have arrested the aunt of a Kankakee jail inmate on suspicion she helped aid his escape.

The inmate, Kamron Taylor, was captured Friday night after a nearly three-day manhunt. He escaped from the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee, where his aunt used to work as a guard.

Kankakee police arrested 50-year-old Tonya Grant earlier this week and that she was charged Saturday with obstructing justice and aiding in the escape of an inmate.

It was not immediately clear if she already had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

Her bond was set at $150,000.

She's accused of giving Taylor confidential security information about the detention center during a jail visit with her nephew.
