A New Hampshire man has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge after allegedly telling the Central Intelligence Agency he planned to shoot New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu "no matter what."
The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office announced Tuesday that 38-year-old Brian Roberts of Concord had been charged with criminal threatening. He is accused of sending a message to the CIA's website reading "Going to shoot Gov state of NH no matter what."
The CIA told police in Concord that an email user had specifically threatened the governor and made statements expressing hatred toward the Jewish community.
State and local police investigated alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Joint Terrorism Task Force and identified Roberts as the suspect.
In addition to the criminal threatening charge against Roberts, prosecutors said the investigation would determine any possible violations of New Hampshire's Civil Rights Act.
Roberts is scheduled to be arraigned at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the 6th Circuit Court-District Division-Concord. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
