Bakery Makes 1,200-Pound Birthday Cake for Tom Brady

The GOAT may have a strict diet, but that did not stop a local bakery from spending days preparing a giant birthday cake for Tom Brady.

Employees at Montilio's Bakery in Brockton, Massachusetts, said the cake in the shape of No. 12 was the perfect way to help him celebrate birthday No. 41. They passed on ideas like making an avocado football cake in favor of keeping it simple, but the list of ingredients is long.

The culinary confection was made up of 90 sheet cakes and came in at 1,200 pounds. The cake was delivered to Gillette Stadium for fans at training camp to enjoy on Brady’s birthday. It was 12 feet by 12 feet in size and included 250 pounds of sugar.

"There were also 2,000 eggs and 100 pounds of milk — not goat's milk, though," owner George Montilio said.

Montilio estimates the whole cake was be roughly 2.4 million calories, but Brady himself did not have a slice. Due to dietary restrictions, bakery employees made him a special gluten and dairy-free cake.

"It was more of a vegan-style cake with no flour, just rice flour," Montilio said.

Carbohydrates and calories aside, they hope it is a recipe for success this season. Montilio's has made plenty of Patriots Super Bowl cakes in the past, and they are more than ready to whip up another.

The list of ingredients in the cake includes:

  • 2,000 eggs
  • 200 pounds of flour
  • 250 pounds of sugar
  • 300 pounds of buttercream
  • 100 pounds of milk
  • 5 pounds of baking powder
  • 150 pounds of unsalted butter
