BBB Warns Customers About Seymour-Based T-Shirt Shop

The Better Business Bureau has received dozens of complaints from customers who bought apparel from a local company’s website and didn’t receive anything in return.

Seymour-based company called The Nerd Cave has more than 4,000 different licensed shirts available for sale online, and the BBB has given it an F rating, citing 54 complaints from people who ordered merchandise, had their credit cards charged, but never received their order.

After complaining, some customers either got their order or their money back, but 15 of those complaints are still open.

Those customers said getting in touch with The Nerd Cave isn’t easy, either.

The company hasn’t addressed the BBB since the agency asked how they plan to fix their problems, in August.

NBC Connecticut also called, emailed and stopped by the business address in person for a comment, but did not hear back.

Regardless, customers experiencing shipping issues should understand their rights. If a seller cannot meet an established shipping date, the Federal Trade Commission requires they either give customers a new shipping date or the option to cancel.

Businesses that do not specify a shipping date have 30 days to deliver purchased items.
