Ben Carson Sees Enthusiasm in Iowa Amid Turmoil

Supporters swarmed two Ben Carson events in Iowa on Wednesday, suggesting the retired neurosurgeon isn’t out of the race just yet, NBC News reported.

More than 150 people showed up at a town hall event in the small town of Panora — a town that has a population of just 1,100 — and in Winterset, where two town halls had to be held.

Carson seemed determined to get back to the issues at both events and, doggedly addressed foreign policy.

"People say 'you're weak,' and they say that because I'm soft spoken," Carson said in Winterset with a laugh that seemed to underscore his frustration with his struggles on foreign policy in the race.

Many attendees told MSNBC they liked Carson’s values, but were still undecided in the race. The Iowa caucuses will be held on Feb. 1.
