Pedestrian Struck on Berlin Turnpike in Newington

The Berlin Turnpike going southbound in Newington was shut down after a pedestrian was struck by a car on Thursday night, police said.

Newington Police said they were on the scene at the Berlin Turnpike and East Robbins Avenue for a one-car crash around 7 p.m.

The pedestrian was hit in front of Dunkin Donuts on 2386 Berlin Turnpike. Police found the man lying in the roadway suffereing from severe injuries, Newington Police said. 

The man was transported to the Hartford Hospital but the specifics of his injuries were not reported.

The driver is cooperating with police.
