Bitter Cold Continues Friday Before Weekend Warmup

There is a chance for light snow across northern New England on Saturday afternoon

Our cold spell is short-lived. Once we get through Friday, a warming trend kicks in.

Expect clear weather and uncomfortable cold Thursday evening as a breeze continues. Overnight lows will be again in the single digits, with subzero wind chills. More sunshine for Friday as our temperatures gain a few more degrees, with highs in the 20s.

The weekend will be milder, with highs both days in the 30s and closer to 40 on Sunday. There is a weak disturbance that will bring a chance for light snow across northern New England on Saturday afternoon. Snow accumulation will be a few inches and mostly confined to the higher elevations. Southern New England will see increasing clouds Saturday evening, clearer on Sunday.

Northern New England will see a wintry mix Monday morning as a warm front lifts northward. A surge of warmer air flows into the northeast, boosting temperatures into the 40s for Monday afternoon.

Light rain again will move through northern New England, but we stay dry south on Tuesday. Highs will reach the 50s, maybe nearing 60 in some spots!

Another low pressure system Thursday tracks through New England, this time passing over the North Country. A brief mix followed by scattered rain is likely for all. Highs will still be mild in the 40s.

Friday into Saturday, colder air returns, as highs dip to the 20s.
