‘Be Responsible': Officials Urge Red Sox Fans to Be Safe

Boston Red Sox fans are being urged by city officials to be responsible and stay alert while celebrating the team's World Series run this year.

"The Red Sox catch phrase this season is 'Do damage' -- that's for the players on the field, not the fans in the streets," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said Tuesday morning ahead of Game 1 against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Fenway Park.

Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said that while there are currently no known threats, he still wants fans heading to Fenway to stay alert and to let law enforcement know if they see something.

There will be added law enforcement around Fenway, including on the tops of nearby buildings. City officials have also been meeting with officials at nearby colleges to keep students in line.

"As I always say, have fun, cheer and celebrate, be passionate Boston sports fans, but be responsible," Walsh said.

There will also be parking and traffic restrictions in place, with all streets around Fenway Park closed to all traffic by 7 p.m. Temporary parking restrictions can be found on Beacon, Jersey, Van Ness, Fullerton, Ipswich, Lansdowne, Overland and Boylston streets along with Brookline and Burlington avenues.

Game 1 at Fenway Park starts at 8:09 p.m.
