Buttigieg Surges Into 3rd Place in New NH Primary Poll

Sanders has been running close to Biden in the Real Clear Politics polling average for New Hampshire

Pete Buttigieg has surged into third place among New Hampshire voters, according to a new poll released Monday.

The Quinnipiac University poll has former Vice President Joe Biden in first at 20% among likely Democratic presidential primary voters, followed by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 16%, Buttigieg at 15% and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at 14%. Tulsi Gabbard received 6%, Andrew Yang 4%, and Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer 3% apiece.

Biden has been out front in most polls of the hotly contested first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary, with Warren and Sanders close behind.

Buttigieg, the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana, had been polling in single digits in most recent polls of New Hampshire Democrats.

The Quinnipiac poll also asked what impact the entrance of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg would have on the Democratic race.

Only 2% of likely Democratic primary voters said they would definitely vote for Bloomberg if he got in, while 37% said they would consider voting for him.
