A worker died from his injuries Thursday following an apparent industrial incident at a construction site in Cambridge, Massachusetts, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
Authorities said the 41-year-old man from Taunton and two other men were initially hurt when scaffolding collapsed from the third floor of an MIT building under construction on Vassar Street at about 3 p.m.
The workers were taken to an area hospital for treatment where the Taunton man later died from his injuries. Authorities have not identified him, but the company he worked for said Anthony Costa Jr. was the man who was killed.
The other two workers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One of those victims, 23-year-old Steven Ferreira of Fall River, is at Massachusetts General Hospital, where his father says he's seriously injured with severe lacerations to the head and a severed ear. He has staples in his head, according to his dad.
Authorities said the structure, under construction by Walsh Brothers Incorporated, is going to be a dormitory.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our valued employee and we will do all that we can to support his family at this time, including respecting their privacy," the company said in a statement, adding that it was assisting federal and local authorities in the investigation.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the man's exact cause of death which is not considered suspicious.

The incident is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the MIT Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
