Car Crashes Into Woods, Bursts Into Flames in Carver

The responding officer was able to get the 21-year-old female driver out of the car and to safety.

A car was destroyed when it crashed and burst into flames in Carver, Massachusetts.

According to police, an officer was on patrol when he came upon a fire on the side of the road in the area of 3 Main Street early Saturday morning.

As the officer approached the scene, he found that a car was on fire and the driver was still inside.

At about the same time, several 911 calls came into the Public Safety Dispatch regarding the crash and fire.

The officer was able to get the 21-year-old female driver out of the car and to safety. Moments afterwards, the officer says the car became completely engulfed in flames.

Carver Fire extinguished the fire, and Carver EMS personnel transported the woman to South Shore Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Upon further investigation, authorities learned that the car was traveling south on Main Street when it left the roadway, struck a utility pole and came to rest in the woods where it caught fire.

No one else was hurt in the incident, police said.

The driver's name is not being released yet, but she was issued a citation and will be summoned to court on several motor vehicle related charges.

It is unclear if she has an attorney.
