DA: Man Who Stabbed Waitress in the Neck Heading Back to Massachusetts

A man accused of stabbing a waitress in the neck after he refused to pay his bill is heading back to Massachusetts, authorities announced.

Gerardo Reyes Menjivar, 36, of Lynn, was arrested in Prince George's County in Maryland earlier this month after the May 7 stabbing.

He's expected to be arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Thursday on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

Reyes Menjivar allegedly left the Las Pupusas Del Chino restaurant in Chelsea without paying his bill. When a waitress caught up with him on Blossom Street to confront him about the skipped bill, he allegedly stabbed her in the throat before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear if Reyes Menjivar has an attorney.
