Home Invasion Suspect Shot by Chicopee Police Officer

A Chicopee officer engaged a home invasion suspect during a foot pursuit and had to discharge his firearm, according to police

Police say three people have been arrested following a home invasion in Massachusetts, including one suspect who was shot by police.

Chicopee police posted on Facebook that they received a 911 call about a home invasion just before 7 p.m. Monday.

Three suspects fled on foot and encountered officers investigating a car crash.

An officer shot one of the suspects following a foot pursuit.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Ayman Khalifa, of Springfield. He was treated at a hospital and released into police custody.

Khalifa, 20-year-old Austin Shephard, of Adams, and 23-year-old Efrain Diaz-Martinez Jr., of Springfield, were all held without bail Tuesday pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Dec. 11.

Their lawyers did not comment except to enter the not guilty pleas on their clients' behalf.
