Children's Hospital to Use Grant to Fight Adolescent Vaping

Boston Children's Hospital has received a $100,000 grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care to help fight adolescent vaping.

The grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation will help the hospital develop a training manual and protocol for primary care providers and counselors to treat vaping addiction in youth and provide ongoing consultation for treatment and prevention.

The project also includes hosting three training conferences across Massachusetts in 2020 to disseminate the materials.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported more than 800 confirmed and probable vaping-related illnesses and 13 vaping-related deaths across the country.

Republican Gov. Charlie Baker last week barred the sale of all vaping products in the state for four months.
