D'Amici's Bakery Has Closed All of Its Locations

"We are truly sorry for everyone this is impacting and there are no words that could possibly make anyone feel better."

A local group of bakeries that first started out more than 25 years ago has apparently disappeared from the landscape.

According to several social media posts, including one within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, D'Amici's Bakery in Melrose and Lynn have closed, with the Melrose closure being confirmed by the Patch and the Lynn closure being mentioned on The REAL 'You Know You're From Lynn' Facebook group page. Other social media posts indicate that the Reading location of the bakery has shut down as well, including a recent post on the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants showing that the same "out of business" sign at the Melrose and Lynn locations is also shown at the Reading shop. (Phone calls to the Reading location went unanswered Monday morning.)

The restaurant put out a statement that read, in part, "We tried until the last day, but we met a dead end. We are truly sorry for everyone this is impacting and there are no words that could possibly make anyone feel better. Thank you for everyone, customers and staff."

"It's really kind of sad," customer Kathi Kougias said Monday outside the now closed Lynn location. "I'm very surprised at this."

D'Amici's Bakery was established in 1993 and at one point had four locations, including another outlet in Lynn that shut down earlier this year; the shops offered such items as breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, pies, sandwiches, and coffee.
