Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski Surprise Texas Tech Player With Scholarship

A Texas Tech University sophomore with a pretty impressive performance this season received some amazing news on Monday by Patriots receiver Danny Amendola and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

According to Sports Illustrated, Texas Tech safety Justus Parker has played in all 12 of the Red Raiders' games this season — starting in six of them. He is sixth on the team with 42 total tackles. He was named Second-Team All-Big 12.

During a team meeting on Monday, head coach Kliff Kingsbury played a video messaged from Amendola, a Texas Tech alumnus, who told Parker that he admired his work.

Gronkowski then came into the frame to tell the sophomore walk-on that he was now on scholarship.

Parker later tweeted about his excitement, saying it was an "unbelievable moment."

SI reported that Parker played one season at Division-III Texas Lutheran before transferring to Texas Tech.
