David Price Placed on Injured List With Elbow Tendinitis

The team's rotation is already short-handed following Nathan Eovaldi's elbow surgery

The Boston Red Sox have placed left-handed pitcher David Price on the 10-day injured list with left elbow tendinitis.

Price's DL stint is retroactive to May 3. To fill his spot, the team called up right-handed pitcher Ryan Weber from Pawtucket.

Price, 33, has gone 1-2 with a 3.75 ERA in six starts for the Red Sox this season. He has pitched well in his last four starts, allowing three runs or fewer for a 2.63 ERA.

The pitcher has been in the news of late, both for saying he would not accompany the team to the White House on Thursday and for denying reports that the popular videogame "Fortnite" had been banned in the Red Sox clubhouse.

His injury further taxes a Sox rotation already doing without Nathan Eovaldi, who is recovering from elbow surgery.

The Red Sox are scheduled to play the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.
