Burlington, Mass. Day Care Teacher Under Investigation on Leave

The teacher is accused of bruising a 4-year-old boy's arm after he forcefully grabbed him and slammed him onto a cot

A day care teacher in Burlington, Massachusetts was placed on paid administrative leave Monday after police received a complaint of alleged child abuse.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office along with Burlington police are investigating an allegation that the teacher bruised a 4-year-old boy after he grabbed the child forcefully and slammed him onto a cot during nap time at KinderCare.

A source told NBC10 Boston she had seen the teacher being aggressive with a boy two weeks before the alleged assault. Officials are now investigating a potential assault and battery of a child by an adult.

Parents were shocked to hear about the allegations.

"He seems to be a nice guy," Sheedal Adigi, a parent of a KinderCare student, said. "He seems to be pretty fine with the kids."

KinderCare addressed the allegations Wednesday in a statement.

"Late Monday (August 6) a concern was raised that one of our teachers may have been rough with a child… As soon as we became aware of this concern the teacher involved was placed on administrative leave. The teacher has not been in the center since the concern was raised on Monday and will remain on leave until further notice," a KinderCare spokesperson said.

So far, no charged have been filed against the teacher, whose name has not been released. He will remain on leave until the investigation is complete.
