Donald Trump Says Tom Brady is ‘Totally Innocent' in Deflategate

"I'm with him all the way," the president-elect said

President-elect Donald Trump said New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was "totally innocent" in the Deflategate scandal in an interview that aired Friday night on Fox News.

In the interview - taped last month - Trump says the NFL made a mistake when it suspended Brady for the first four games of this season.

"He's a friend of mine, he's a great guy, and he's a great athlete obviously, but he's a winner," Trump said. "He played better when he had the other ball. I think Tom is totally innocent. I know him, he's such an honorable guy, and I'm with him all the way."

Brady hasn't said whether he voted for Trump, but he has made it clear that the two are close friends. Patriots coach Bill Belichick wrote a letter to Trump prior to the Nov. 8 election to show his support, but it still isn't clear if he voted for Trump either.
