3 Accused of Assaulting Married Couple in McDonald's Drive-Thru

Three people have been charged in connection with an assault on a married couple in a New Hampshire McDonald's drive-thru.

Dover police said 24-year-old Champion J. Sprague, 32-year-old Robert C. Gorham and 26-year-old Megan L. O'Neill, all Rochester residents, turned themselves in on Wednesday and Thursday after investigators obtained arrest warrants.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on March 10, when officers responded to a McDonald's on Central Avenue for a report of a fight in the restaurant's drive-thru lane.

Police said the victims, a married couple in their 40s, told officers another car cut them off in the drive-thru, and that the people in the car started yelling insults at them. Two men and a woman, identified later as Sprague, Gorham and O'Neill, allegedly got out of the car and choked the female victim, punched the male victim and damaged their car. One of the suspects also allegedly tried to punch the female victim's 19-year-old son.

The married couple was treated for injuries at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Sprague was charged with a felony count of riot, a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault. Gorham was charged with a felony count of riot, a felony count of second degree assault and a misdemeanor count of attempted simple assault. O'Neill was charged with a felony count of riot and a misdemeanor count of simple assault.

All of the suspects were released on $5,000 bail and are due to face a judge on May 24. It's unclear if they have attorneys.
