The operator of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident on the Sagamore Bridge on Tuesday night allegedly fled the scene by jumping into a landscaping trailer passing by.
The accident, which occurred at 8:10 p.m. involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions over the bridge. It remains unclear why the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene. Their whereabouts have not been determined at this time.
The operator of the vehicle who remained at the scene was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing, while traffic has resumed its normal pattern over the bridge.
