Evacuees Land at Boston's Logan Airport Ahead of Hurricane Florence

With Hurricane Florence heading right toward the Carolinas, people living there are beginning to evacuate. Several flights have already come into Boston Logan International Airport from Raleigh, North Carolina.

One woman told NBC10 Boston she is scheduled to head back home later this week.

"We're supposed to come back, but we'll have to see how it all is," Carla Amburgey said.

Another woman, a college student at UNC Wilmington, is facing a mandatory evacuation that went into effect Tuesday at noon.

"Everyone has to leave campus. We're not allowed to stay there at all, and I mean everyone that I know from work and everywhere is just leaving because it's so dangerous to be there," Maddie Mahoney said.

More and more people are expected to leave North Carolina Tuesday and Wednesday before the storm makes landfall on Thursday.
