Fast-Moving Storm Causes Damage Across Greater Boston

A fast-moving storm toppled trees and caused damage across Greater Boston on Friday afternoon.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for parts of Essex, Middlesex and Suffolk counties as the storm moved through the region.

Heavy rain, strong winds and even a couple of lightning strikes were reported in area towns.

Trees were reported down in Andover, Boxford, Burlington, Cambridge, Dover, Hopkinton, Framingham, Georgetown, Lexington, Lynnfield, Medford, Natick, Needham, Newbury, Newburyport, Newton, North Reading, Wellesley, Wilmington and Woburn, in some cases blocking roads and taking down power lines.

A lightning strike was also reported at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers and a residence in Wilmington.
