The wife of a man who died in a fire at a Massachusetts apartment complex this week has succumbed to her injuries, authorities said.
Susan Romano, 67, died at the hospital on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Berkshire district attorney said on Wednesday.
Her husband, Michael Romano, 68, died at the scene of the fire Monday night at the Beech Tree Commons complex in Great Barrington.
He was in his wheelchair when firefighters pulled him from the unit, according to his neighbors. Both were unconscious, authorities said.
Officials and tenants at the complex told The Berkshire Eagle that a smoke alarm never went off.
The investigation into the cause is ongoing. The blaze was limited to one unit, although several other residents were temporarily displaced when utilities were shut off.
