We're starting Marathon Monday with a First Alert thanks to a system that is bringing heavy rain and lightning to the region. This same system has also prompted a tornado watch in several parts of Connecticut.
The heaviest rain should exit by 9 a.m. but until then, we have a threat of thunderstorms. The good news is that most of the Marathon will be dry.
However, if you’re running the race and getting to Hopkinton early, prepare for locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. Another round of showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon.
Tuesday and Wednesday are seasonably pleasant with sunshine. Any wet weather should hold off until Thursday.
As rain chances increase at the end of the week, the temperatures will also moderate. High temperatures may reach the upper 60s and low 70s by Friday and Saturday.
Unfortunately, the unsettled weather will stick around through Easter Sunday. It’s still too early to tell if it will be a washout.
