Florida Camper Drowns in New Hampshire River

A sixty-five-year-old Florida man drowned in a New Hampshire river Saturday, state police announced.

John Wells of Leesburg, Florida was found face-down in Androscoggin River in Berlin at approximately 7 a.m. Officers later learned that Wells had been camping on the river with friends. One of the campers found him this morning next to the campsite in less than two feet of water. The incident remains under investigation, although alcohol impairment has been named as a potential contributing factor.
