Former Fire Chief Accused of Domestic Violence Gets New Job

A former Massachusetts fire chief who was arrested on domestic violence charges and put on leave from his role at the Ipswich Fire Department in September 2017, has found new employment as a firefighter with the Devens Fire Department.

MassDevelopment confirms that former Ipswich Fire Chief Gregory Gagnon has been employed as a firefighter with the Devens Fire Department since September 2018.

Gagnon, of Dracut, spent 18 years as a firefighter before being named a chief in 2014. In September 2017, he appeared in court to answer charges that he allegedly tried to strangle his wife.

Prosecutors have since dropped those charges.
