A day before Connecticut enters Phase 2 of its reopening the state's coronavirus metrics continued on a downward trend.
For the second day in a row, Connecticut saw a single-digit increase in the number of COVID-related fatalities. Six more deaths were reported on Tuesday. The death toll stands at 4,210. That follows a day where three fatalities were reported on Monday.
Connecticut saw another 114 coronavirus cases in the state, bringing the total to 45,349.
The net number of COVID-related hospitalizations fell by two on Tuesday.
The continued trend of declines in coronavirus-related deaths, cases, and hospitalizations allows the state to move forward with Phase 2 of the reopening plan.
That reopening on Wednesday includes new guidelines surrounding private gatherings. Gov. Lamont said those gatherings would now be limited to 25 people if it is indoors and 100 if it's outdoors.
The governor said he was looking at expanding the number allowed at outdoor gatherings to 250 by mid-July.

Gatherings for 4th of July fireworks displays can include 500 people in large spaces as long as families stay 15 feet from other groups nearby, according to the governor.
Phase 2 also includes reopening gyms, all personal services, such as nail salons and tattoo parlors, and allows restaurants to open to indoor dining at half capacity.
