‘Hard to Stomach': Victims Mourned After Attack in Nice, France

It was supposed to be a day of celebration, as French citizens all over the world marked Bastille Day — but now, people are reacting to the horror and mourning the dead.

"It's very hard to stomach," said Sylvain Bruni, an elected representative with the French Consulate of Boston, of another mass killing in his home country. "A lot of people here are calling their family over there in the region to make sure they are safe."

Bruni was at the Cambridge Home of the Consulate, celebrating Bastille Day, when he learned that a truck had plowed into a crowd in Nice, leaving scores dead.

People all over New England, including police and lawmakers, took to Twitter to express their condolences.
