A heavy police presence, including SWAT teams, responded to the scene of a reported stabbing in Reading, Massachusetts, on Friday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred on Prescott Street sometime around 8:30 a.m.
Reading police said there was an "active police scene" in the area of Prescott and Pratt streets. Prescott Street remains closed from Woburn Street to Sunnyside Street.
Police said this appears to be an isolated incident and they don't believe there is any danger to the public. But at one point, everyone on the street was told to shelter in place after a neighbor called 911 saying she had seen a man covered in blood jump out of the window of an area home.

The injured man jumped out of the window and into a car that was waiting out front, police said. They caught up with him soon after and he told them he had been stabbed.
"She reported she saw a man jump out of a window covered in blood," Reading Police Chief David Clark said. "Officers came to the scene and the suspect was reported to have gotten in a car. He left the scene and officers later found him up the street in the car, bleeding profusely."
The man appeared to have suffered deep lacerations and multiple cuts, believed to have been caused by a knife as well as broken glass from the window.
When police went into the home the man had come out of, they said they didn't find anyone. They said they are still searching for the individuals involved.
"No one else was in he house," Clark said. "So then we cleared the scene."
The man who was stabbed was taken to Lahey Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
Police said they are now waiting on a search warrant from the home.
